Community Outreach

Busby Parish Church is used by many non church organisations for various activities within the halls.  It is also used by Busby Primary School for teaching purposes and for end of term services.

The congregation also reach out to those within the community of Busby in many different ways. These can be at a time of illness or bereavement within the Parish or at other times when invited to help in many different ways.  Representatives of Busby Parish Church regularly take part in church services in Bonnyton Home, Busby.

Regular outreach activities which take place are as follows:-

The congregation participate in the Keep Scotland Beautiful Campaign every April.

Tuesday afternoon from 1:00pm to 3:00pm each week we host a satellite centre for the East Renfrewshire Foodbank at which we distribute food parcels to those in need locally. We also accept donations of non-perishable food at the same time or by arrangement.

There is also a regular keep-fit class on a Wednesday afternoon in which church members and non-members enjoy the benefits and companionship through exercise.

Regular visits are made to the elderly, bereaved, house bound  and sick within the community.  Representatives help at the Lodging House Mission in Glasgow.

Recently the format of the Harvest service has changed. Gifts of a plant are given to the elderly, sick or recently bereaved from the congregation.  A retiring offering is taken and the money raised from that goes to the Lodging House Mission in Glasgow.

As part of the Armistice Service, there is a retiring offering for Combat Stress on behalf of veterans of both wars and more recent wars.

On Christmas Eve a retiring offering is usually uplifted in support of the Lodging House Mission.
