Mrs. Babes - 1905 - 2010

Busby`s oldest member, Mrs. Christina Babes, recently celebrated her 105th Birthday.  Until recently Mrs. Babes lived with her daughter and attended church from time to time. However as she now requires greater care, she has become resident in Bonnyton House, the local care home.

On the day of her birthday she received a card from the Queen which was brought along with flowers by the Provost of East Renfrewshire and the Lady Lieutenant. She, later received good wishes from Mr. Jim Murphy and Mr. Ken McIntosh, MP and MSP respectively.

She also celebrated the day with her daughter Sheila, her sister and her niece as well as friends from the village of Busby, members of Busby Parish Church including the minister Rev. Jerry Eve and residents and staff in Bonnyton House. Amongst the many gifts was a beautiful basket of flowers arranged by Linda Smith and which the Rev. Jerry Eve presented to Mrs. Babes on behalf of the congregation of Busby Parish Church.

Sadly Mrs. Babes passed away a few weeks after her 105th birthday on Wednesday 9th June, 2010.
